8 Extremely Weird Things Only People From Portland Do
By all accounts, Portland is an eccentric city. From the outside looking in, there are many things about our city that people find strange. So many in fact that an entire show is based around these oddities. Check out these things and see what you think.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here:
1. Ride Bikes Naked
Started in 2004, our annual naked ride boasts nearly 10,000 participants. Originating as a protest to society's dependence on oil, the ride is also a statement on body image and the indecent pollution caused by cars.
2. Visit Museums Dedicated To Vacuum Cleaners
Cleaning is high art at this museum dedicated to the almighty vacuum. Showing models throughout the long vacuuming history from before electronic to modern, this is one interesting museum for everyone.
3. Go To The Strip Club ... For Dinner
Portland is said to have more strip clubs per capita than any other municipality, and like in any market, you have to stand out from the pack. Well, Acropolis does just that by offering one of the best steak deals in town. An 8 ounce ribeye will run you just $7, and you can even get it to go.
4. And Karaoke
In another strip club move to stand out from the pack, Devil's Point has the fun feature of Stripper Karaoke. If you have ever wanted to watch strippers do karaoke while working stage, this is the place to do it.
5. Keep Moving
The Darth Vadar bagpiping unicycler is just one of the many interesting things you may see around the city today. The thing about Portland is, for the most part, we just keep walking and pay these interesting occurrences little attention.
6. Love Goats
There are not a lot of cities that you can see goats in neighborhood yards, but Portland is the place. Here, goats are used as
they make fetching
and you may even find them
in the store
7. And Chickens Too
No need to forget our feathered friends. You can do a neighborhood chicken coop tour just about anywhere, and of course, when lost, we post signs like you would for a dog to find them.
8. Relatively Little ... When It Snows
All bets are off when it snows in Portland. We basically grab a book, or beer, or Netflix series and hibernate until the snow wears off. Whether it is an inch or a foot, we declare a Snowmaggedon and call things off.
What else makes Portland weird?
