12 Bizarre Roadside Attractions Around Portland That Will Make You Do A Double Take

Keep your eyes peeled when traveling around the city and you can see these 12 gems hiding in plain sight all around town.

1. Giant Adidas

At Adidas Village, you may just run into these giant shoes. They are located at 5055 N. Greeley Avenue.

2. Paul Bunyon

Standing since 1959, Paul Bunyon has been a landmark in north Portland. He can be spotted on N. Interstate near Denver Avenue.

3. Hoof Prints

Across the street from Paul Bunyon's are these hoof prints, which make a great resting spot on your journey.

4. Pod

Have a little fun with this one. Try your hand at making the pendulum swing on this 15-foot tall statue, a mainstay since 2002. The Pod is located on Burnside between SW Oak and SW 10th Avenues.

5. Portland Dog Bowl

While many businesses leave dog bowls out for furry friends walking down the street, this dog bowl is actually built into the fountain here. The interesting public work can be seen on NW Davis Street across from Custom House in the North Park Blocks.

6. Portlandia

Notable as the second largest pounded copper statue, this huge beauty is just behind the Statue of Liberty for its size. See the statue at 1120 SW 5th Avenue.

7. Ramona

Ribsy, Ramona, and Henry Huggins, the timeless Beverly Cleary characters, come alive in Grant Park. Not far from Cleary's childhood home and the Beverly Cleary Elementary School, the bronze sculptures are situated between NE 33rd Avenue and NE Brazee.

8. Salmon Swimming

If you look closely, there is a salmon swimming through the corner of this building. The building is located, not surprisingly, at 901 SW Salmon Street.

9. Zelda the Bulldog

Guarding the door of the Heathman Hotel is Zelda, an English bulldog. Developed as a symbol of the hotel's pet friendly policies, Zelda can be seen at 1001 SW Broadway.

10. Pirate's Cove

You may do a double-take when you pass this strip club, so thoughtfully designed as a jug. Check it out in all its glory at 7427 NE Sandy Boulevard.

11. Franz Bread

Bread in the sky leads the way to the Franz bakery and outlet store. The shop is located at NE Flanders and 12th Street.

12. Mills End Park

Don't blink or you might miss it. The smallest park in the world looks similar to a planter anywhere else, but it is on record in the Guinness Book of World Records with this designation. Visit the diminutive park along Naito Parkway at Taylor Street.
