The Whimsical Oregon Store That Will Take You Straight Into The Past
Located in the small community of Lookingglass, Oregon, the Lookingglass Store has been serving Douglas County for more than 160 years. As one of the oldest establishments in the Beaver State, this store offers a fascinating glimpse into the past. Check it out:
Built in 1852, the Lookingglass Store has been in business for more than 16 decades. At the time of its construction, the store was the terminus for the Oakland to Lookingglass stage and freight road. At one point, it was also the beginning of the historic Coos Bay Wagon Road.
Today, a trip to this store is like taking a step back in time. The floors are constructed of old wooden planks, and the walls are made of tin and wood.
The shop is well-stocked with a variety of food and beverages. There's even a shelf filled with two-cent candy.
Local Oregon products can also be found here. These cheese curds were made in Bandon.
The hand-scooped Umpqua Dairy ice cream makes for a tasty treat at the end of your shopping trip.
