Float The Mountain Fork River On This Scenic Float Trip Through Southern Oklahoma
Lucky Dog River Floats offers a scenic and laid-back float trip on the Mountain Fork River near Hochatown, Oklahoma.
There aren’t a lot of rivers in Oklahoma that offer float trips which is why we are excited when we discover a delightful one. We have featured the Illinois River several times but did you know The Mountain Fork River has a laid-back float trip you can take through Lucky Dog River Floats? This fun journey takes about two hours to float and the stunning views make for a peaceful ride.
Lucky Dog River Floats is located 30 minutes from Hochatown and is open for business during the summer months seven days a week. They do occasionally have to shut down due to high water levels when they release water into the river from Broken Bow Lake so be sure and follow their Facebook page for announcements.
The float trip is 1.7-miles long and takes on average about 2 hours to float. There is no limit on the amount of time you have to float so take your time and feel free to stop along the way.
The trip costs $40 per adult, $30 per kid ages 5-12 yrs old, and includes your tube rental, parking, life jackets, and shuttle service. If you want to float the river again, you can pay an additional $10 per person.
They also have rope ties for you to tie your tubes together. You can also rent cooler tubes so your ice chests can float in them.
Water shoes are highly suggested since you’ll be walking around the river. Alcohol is allowed on the river but no glass is allowed.
Reservations are accepted ahead of time so it’s recommended that you call ahead and reserve a spot, especially if you have a large group.
If you have your own tubes and you can park a vehicle at the bottom of the float trip and have another one where you start, you can float the river for free as often as you would like. Lucky Dog just makes it more convenient and easier to get around.
Be sure and follow along on their Facebook page. They make all of their announcements on this page since they do not have a website.
Another fun activity to check out while you're in the Hochatown/Broken Bow area is The MAZE of Hochatown. The maze is constructed from a mile worth of fencing. It was designed for guests of all ages, so be sure to bring the whole family along.
