We are so fortunate to have so many beautiful places to photograph in the Sooner State. One such place is the iconic lighthouse at Lake Hefner in Oklahoma City. This setting looking looks more like something you would commonly find on the East Coast rather than here in the midwest. Keep scrolling to view 10 photographs of this lighthouse I found that will take your breath away.
1. Standing at 36 feet tall, the Lighthouse at East Wharf on Lake Hefner flashes a red, two-second off-on pattern from dusk to dawn over the lake.
2. The lighthouse was inspired by the second oldest lighthouse in the country and is built of concrete.
3. It's one of the most spectacular places to watch a sunset and one of the most photographed spots in the state.
4. Sitting right next to the lighthouse are dozens of sailboats, restaurants, and businesses.
5. The Lighthouse at East Wharf was built in 1999 and is now a member of the U.S. Lighthouse Society.
6. Even when the clouds roll in, the setting looks like one of America's coastlines.
7. On any given night, you'll usually catch photographers setting up to capture another spectacular image.
8. The lake is also a recreational area for families, including a jogging trail that travels along the edge of the lake and runs right past the lighthouse.
9. Doesn't this look like the most peaceful spot? You can find benches on the shore and enjoy this setting while watching the sunset.
10. Dusk is my favorite time of the day to visit the lighthouse. Thank you to all these talented photographers that captured these impressive photos.
Have you ever visited the lighthouse before? If so, what is your favorite time of the day to visit?
