There’s A Small Town In Oklahoma Known For Its Truly Epic Burgers

Oklahoma is home to many small towns, some of which have garnered themselves quite the reputation for delicious food. One such place is the historic town of El Reno – known for their famous fried onion burgers. Here’s a look at this charming town and their truly epic burgers.

El Reno is located about 30 minutes west of Oklahoma City along U.S. Highway 81.

The town sprung up shortly after the 1889 land rush and was named after the nearby Fort Reno.

This historical town is located along Route 66 and has drawn in visitors and food critics from across the nation to indulge in one of its famed onion burgers.

Every year El Reno holds its famous Fried Onion Burger Day Festival on the first Saturday in May.

It's a community event held in honor of the burger and to cook the largest fried onion burger on record - weighing over 750 pounds!

There are a few staple restaurants in town that have been serving this delectable onion burger for decades.

One of the oldest establishments famous for the fried onion burger is Sid's Diner located at 300 South Choctaw Avenue. Sid's has been featured on many television shows and serves incredible cooked-to-order onion burgers.

Another small town cafe is Robert's Grill - a 14 stool counter restaurant that's been serving patrons since 1926. It's located at 300 South Bickford.

It may not look like much from the outside but it's the mouthwatering burgers that keeps patrons coming back year after year.

Another place you'll want to check out while in town is Johnnie's Grill located at 301 South Rock Island Avenue.

They have been in business since the 1940s and have continuously served the yummy fried onion burger with caramelized onions..and they are smashingly delicious!
