Oklahoma isn't simply known for its beautiful nature, sweeping plains, and Southern hospitality. It's also a foodie's paradise, with all sorts of dining options from Oklahoma City to smaller towns like Grifton.

From barbecue to Italian and new American cuisine, the Sooner State has delicious restaurants for every palate and taste. If you're not sure where to start, here's a list of the 12 best restaurants in Oklahoma, one to check out for each month of the year.

1. January: Nonesuch - Oklahoma City

Start the New Year off right at one of the classiest establishments in Oklahoma. Nonesuch is a New American restaurant and wine bar that serves a gourmet, pre-fixed menu to a lucky few customers each night. Reservations are required to experience this luxury, small-scale dining opportunity, where you can soak in the delightful cuisine and luscious wine. Hours are Tuesday to Saturday, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

2. February: Molly's Landing - Catoosa

If you're looking for a super romantic place to take your Valentine in February, look no further than Molly's Landing in Catoosa. This quaint steakhouse is located in a rustic log cabin, and its steak was voted one of the best in the Tulsa area. No matter what time of year you visit, though, you're sure to feel at one with nature. Hours are Monday to Saturday, from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.

3. March: Burn Co Barbecue - Tulsa

Burn Co BBQ in Tulsa is a top contender for the state's best barbecue and will certainly not let you down. In fact, it'll blow you away. The seasoned, smoked beef back ribs, tender brisket, and scrumptious sides are worth waiting in the line that forms before it even opens. It's one of the best barbecue joints in Oklahoma for a reason. Hours are Tuesday to Friday, 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and Saturday from 10:45 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.

4. April: Click's Steakhouse - Pawnee

Since 1962, Click's Steakhouse has been serving mouthwatering steaks, prime rib, and fluffy meringue pies. The cheese fries, fried pickles, and homemade rolls should also be added to your list of superb things to try at this beloved Oklahoma steakhouse, which has been serving locals and tourists since 1962. Hours are Tuesday to Thursday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday until 9 p.m.; and Sunday until 2 p.m.

5. May: Meers Store & Restaurant - Meers

Meers Store & Restaurant might be the only thing left in this former gold mining town, but it has become world-famous for its Meersburger and is known as the "Best Burger in Oklahoma." People travel from all over the state to visit this unique dive, which first opened its doors in 1901. You'll also find homemade barbecue, bread, and ice cream on the menu. Meers is open Thursday to Sunday, starting at 11 a.m.

6: June: Flatire Burgers - Edmond

Enjoy the beautiful rooftop and mouthwatering burgers at Flatire Burgers in Edmond. This bike-themed, industrial restaurant serves up unique burgers (like the mac and cheese burger!), stacked sandwiches, and a variety of craft beers, pleasing just about anyone's palate. Enjoy a round or dinner out on the patio or the rooftop—it's one of the best summer dining spots in Oklahoma. Flatire is open Sunday to Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Thursday to Saturday until 10 p.m.

7. July: Clearwater Cafe - Vian

This summer, head to Clearwater Cafe on Lake Tenkiller for a dreamy summer meal. The gorgeous outdoor backdrop is the perfect place to have a drink and some food after a long day on the lake. With a menu that offers everything from salads to sandwiches and everything in between, there is truly something for everyone here. The cafe is open seasonally; hours are Thursday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

8. August: Eischen's Bar - Okarche

You'll definitely want to make a trip to Eischen's in Okarche, the oldest bar in Oklahoma, which opened in 1896. Not only will you see a bit of history, but you'll also find the best fried chicken in the state. In fact, the fried chicken meal practically includes the entire bird! Grab a beer or soda and take in the classic Americana vibe at this staple. Hours are Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

9. September: Pete's Place - Krebs

Pete's Place first opened in 1925 and has since become famous for its large, family-style portions of amazing Italian cuisine. It's a great spot for family and friends since you can share a variety of dishes, including steak and lamb fries, ravioli, and the Italian dinner—spaghetti, meatballs, antipasto salad, and garlic bread. It's a beloved Krebs eatery for a reason! Hours are Sunday to Monday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday and Saturday until 9 p.m.

10: October: White Dog Hill - Clinton

Perched atop a rising plain in western Oklahoma sits White Dog Hill. This one-of-a-kind restaurant and bar offers spectacular views of wide-open spaces and beautiful sunsets. The menu is exquisite, offering specials such as stuffed smoked pork chops with blueberry peach salsa and lemon rice. It's one of the most visually stunning restaurants in Oklahoma. Hours are Wednesday to Saturday, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

11: November: Amish Country Store & Restaurant - Muskogee

As the weather starts to cool and autumn comes upon Oklahoma, you'll want to indulge in some tasty comfort food. Stop by the Amish Country Store and Restaurant in Muskogee to pick up some delectable homemade desserts, handcrafted fudge and candies, and other canned goods. It's a great place to purchase gifts for the holiday season, or to sit down and get a hot breakfast. Hours are Monday to Thursday, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Friday and Saturday until 4:30 p.m.

12: December: Vast - Oklahoma City

Visit Vast, a rooftop restaurant on the 39th floor of the Devon Tower in Oklahoma City, for a luxury holiday dinner. Not only does this spot have some of the best dining views in the state (726 feet above downtown!), but the food and drinks are absolutely superb. Grab a glass of wine with your family and friends and a comforting meal. Vast is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. for dinner (closed on Thursday for dinner and Saturday for lunch).
