If you think you need to travel to Ohio’s larger cities to indulge in a mouthwatering steak, think again. All throughout the state, there are several small town steakhouses serving up exceptional surf n’ turf, signature steaks and other steakhouse classics. The following restaurants are some of our favorites—and they definitely belong on your dining bucket list.
1. Sam's Place (Blakslee)
Since 1922, this family-owned establishment's been serving up exceptional food at reasonable prices in the small town of Blakeslee. When you stop at Sam's Place, you've got to try one of their signature steaks. You'll find this local favorite at 230 Washington St. Blakeslee, OH 43505.
2. Strip Steakhouse (Avon)
The Ewers Barn is home to Strip Steakhouse, where guests can enjoy an exceptional meal while they observe the unique architecture and history of the barn, which dates back to 1851. Strip Steakhouse is located at 36840 Detroit Rd., Avon, OH 44011.
3. Lock Sixteen Steakhouse (Lima)
For a hearty lunch or dinner that the whole family will enjoy, try one of Lock Sixteen Steakhouse's two locations in Lima: 706 N Cable Rd., Lima, OH 45805 and 1950 Bellefontaine Rd., Lima, OH 45804.
4. The City Square Steakhouse (Wooster)
At this "fine-causual restaurant" in historic downtown Wooster, you'll experience exceptional food, beverages and service. The City Square Steakhouse is located at 148 South Market St., Wooster, OH 44691.
5. The Scioto Ribber (Portsmouth)
Famous for their massive steaks, this unsuspecting small town steakhouse along the Ohio River is worth the journey. The famous steaks come in two sizes here: Small and large. (FYI: A small is 16 oz. and a large is 32 oz.) The Scioto Ribber is located at 1026 Gallia St., Portsmouth, OH 45662.
6. Hart Mansion Restaurant (Minerva)
Tucked away on a scenic hillside, you'll find the Hart Mansion Restaurant, overlooking the small town of Minerva. The building, originally built in 1869, is situated on 4 gorgeous, rural acres and features beautiful Italianate architecture. Today, the mansion is fully restored and has been transformed into an elegant, quiet restaurant. 7. White Oaks Restaurant (Westlake)
Since 1928, White Oaks has been the place to be, and it's easy to see why. Watch ducks cross Cahoon Creek and deer play amid the trees at this beautiful nature getaway restaurant. 8. Warehouse Steak N’ Stein (Coshocton)
With a legendary location, legendary entertainment and legendary onion rings, pinwheel steaks and pork tenderloin sandwiches, the Old Warehouse in the Historic Roscoe Village is a must-try. Warehouse Steak n' Stein is located at 400 N Whitewoman St., Coshocton, OH 43812.
9. Fatheads Restaurant (Republic)
