With sleuthing and GPS technology, you can locate many of the world's 2.6 million geocaches in Ohio. The following are what we consider to be the best places to go geocaching in Ohio. You can search the web for the various coordinates to discover these hidden things all within the Ohio geocaching scene.

1. Hocking Hills Adventure GeoTrail

While this trails consists of just 10 caches located at various adventure attractions throughout the Hocking Hills, the scenery you'll encounter along this trail will simply be too hard to beat. As an added bonus, this trail features geocoins awarded to the geocachers that complete it.

2. Athens County GeoTrails

The first official GeoTrails in Ohio began in Athens County. The Athens County GeoTrails feature two trails, both a traditional version and a fully handicapped-accessible one (which is the only fully handicapped-accessible one in the nation.)

3. Cleveland Metroparks

In addition to allowing individuals to place caches, Cleveland Metropark officials also place caches on a regular basis for geocache enthusiasts to find.

4. Lorain County Metroparks

While permits are required to place caches in the Lorain County Metropark area and there are limits to how many caches an individual can place, this makes for well-designed and organized geocaching in Ohio.

5. Lake County

In addition to a large number of caches, the Lake County area is prime for geocache enthusiasts because the Lake County Visitor's Bureau places information about the conservation and history of the area in certain caches.

6. Columbus

While you might not get the usual nature-getaway adventure that often comes with geocaching in Ohio, you are bound to find several caches in this city, which contains more than 2,000 caches!

7. Five Rivers Metroparks

Almost all geocache hidden in the MetroParks is registered with geocaching.com. This might be the most exciting Ohio geocaching excursion you will find.

8. Burr Oak Hiking Trail Series

Considered a "power trail," (an area where several caches can be found close together,) Burr Oak features more than 50 caches and is a good place to kick off your newfound geoacaching in Ohio hobby if you're a beginner.

9. Fairfield County History GeoTrail

The Fairfield County History GeoTrail features a little bit of area history as well as a downloadable GeoTrail Puzzle Sheet.

10. Ohio to Erie Trail
