You’re Guaranteed To Love A Trip To This Epic Cheese Factory In Northern California

Northern California is heaven on earth when it comes to wholesome, local food. This cheese factory based in Crescent City does not disappoint, either. Rumiano Cheese is a 4th generation family owned business that makes a delicious product right here in Northern California.

The Rumiano family first started their business in 1921. It all began when three brothers from Italy moved to California to work in the Amador County mines in the early 1900s.

Richard, Fred and John Rumiano pooled their resources, and in 1919, they bought a dairy farm in Willows.

By the 1930s, the brothers' business had developed into the largest cheese company in California and operated eight factories.

Today, it's the oldest family owned cheese company in California.

The cheese is produced in Crescent City, which the company believes is uniquely positioned as one of the best places for dairy production in the world.

They get their milk from local 3rd and 4th generation farmers in Humboldt and Del Norte counties.

The company's distribution center is located 300 miles to the south in Willows, and they are a quintessential Northern California business.

If you visit their Crescent City location, be sure to try all the samples...you'll be in cheese paradise. You can also look through the windows and see the cheese makers at work.
