These 5 Crazy Headlines From North Carolina Are Bizarre But True
North Carolina, America, and the world in general are no strangers to weird. Almost daily, I read something that makes me say, ‘What in the world?’ Or even (my personal favorite, being a writer), ‘This is stranger than fiction!’ Yeah, things get real weird everywhere, but some of that weirdness has occurred right in our home state of North Carolina. Like these five seriously bizarre news stories below…

Usually those reasons are anything but PG. But 'ghost hunting' turned into something very Heisenberg when three men were busted making meth.
Their original excuse for being in the woods? Ghost hunting of course.
It all started when Sonny Clay Hyatt, professional 'ghost hunter,' found himself lost in the woods. Like any normal ghost hunter, he called 911 to say he was lost in the woods and separated from the two men he was with.
When police arrived on the scene, they began to notice several loopholes in Hyatt's story. Police continued to grill him despite the fact Hyatt continued to claim they were just looking for paranormal activity, deep in the woods, during the dead of night.
Eventually, Hyatt admitted he and his two other friends really came to the woods to make meth.
All three men were arrested and charged. My main question with this story - why did he not just call his friends, or if they weren't answering, just wait till daylight and find his way out? This happened August 7th, 2013.

Although this is reminiscent on the part in horror films when you yell at the actor to just 'NOT GO UP THE STAIRS,' she walked outside to find an ax-wielding clown that proceeded to attack her.
She was able to defend herself, and partially remove the clown mask to discover it was an acquaintance. She called the police and the clown-attacker's identity is still under wraps. This occured August 10th, 2015.

Police details are far and few, but reports say a short man climbed into the excavator around 1AM, stole it, then proceeded to drive 200 yards, knock over the ATM machine and steal it.
So what happened to the ATM? He dropped it into an awaiting vehicle and and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The event occured in Winston-Salem, April 8th, 2013.

Kimrey was reported at the church that Saturday acting very strange. Police were called and Kimrey was removed, although he said he just wanted to spend the night in the church.
He decided to proceed with his mission, and returned to the church late Saturday night. He climbed a ladder, undressed (to help him fit through the ventilation duct and the building) and proceeded to crawl his way into the church.
His weight was too much for the duct, it broke, and he fell through the ceiling into the bathroom.
A church member found Kimrey naked in the restroom. Kimrey was charged with breaking and entering, indecent exposure and trespassing. At least he got his wish to spend the night in a 'place of worship,' right? The event occured November 20th, 2012.

The incident occurred in Charlotte, in which highway drivers noticed a man clinging for dear life on the back of a moving vehicle. The driver was a woman and her child was in the backseat in a car seat.
Other drivers were a bit freaked out, and proceeded to slow down and low-key panic as they watched the man bust the glass on the rear view and climb through the car.
The event occurred June 30th, 2014. The car was gone by the time police came on the scene. It's suspected the two knew each other.
You can watch the entire event in the video below.
What a crazy world we live in. While some of these were scary (like the ax-wielding clown) the majority gave me a really good laugh. Have you heard any crazy stories from North Carolina you want to share? Better yet, do you remember when these certain events happened?
