Everyone In North Carolina is Going Crazy Over This Amazing Theme Park Reopening
Located on Beech Mountain, Land of Oz Theme Park opened its doors in 1970 as a unique new attraction to bring in tourists. For a few years, the park was bustling. Many came here for their very own chance to wander down the Yellow Brick Road, visit Dorothy, see her house, and even catch a live performance.

On its opening day, a record breaking 20,000 visitors wanted their chance to experience a a magical, fairytale world for themselves.
But what goes up must come down, and tourism dwindled. The owner died shortly before the park opened, and momentum was never the same. A fire in 1975 burned Dorothy's original dress from the movie. In 1980, Land of Oz closed its doors.

For years, Land of Oz sat quietly and alone on top of Beech Mountain. Photographer Seph Lawless even covered the amusement park with eerie, yet breathtaking pictures in his book Bizarro.

To keep tourism, interest, and Land of Oz alive, the yellow brick road came to life once a year in the fall for the Autumn at Oz event. This attracted many tourists and left people wanting more.

But once a year was just NOT enough, and this June, you can experience Land of Oz for yourself!
