Visiting New York’s Upcoming Sunflower Festival Near Rochester Is A Great Summer Activity
Wickham Farms is a family owned and operated farm in Penfield, New York, just 10 minutes from Rochester. In addition to growing fruits and vegetables for the local community, this farm holds several events each year, including a Fall Harvest Festival and Lavender Days, but perhaps its most popular event is its yearly Sunflower Spectacular Festival in August. Wickham Farms plants its sunflower field over a period of ten weeks in the spring so that there are blooms throughout the entire month of August. It truly is spectacular.
You can also pick your own! Sunflower picking is encouraged during the Sunflower Spectacular. You choose and buy a vessel from the farm, and then you can head out into the field to collect flowers to bring home.
Snacks and beverages are also available for sale. Choose a day and come and relax by the sunflowers for a while. The Barnyard is open too, so bring your kids. There are plenty of games, activities, and farm animals to keep them busy!
