The Natural Swimming Hole In New York That Will Take You Back To The Good Ole Days
During the summer months, it’s not too hard to find a place to cool off in New York – whether you opt for the pool in your backyard or one of our natural bodies of water that are never too far away. But if you travel to Western New York, you can go for a swim in a spring-fed pool that’s been a family-favorite spot to visit for ages. Find out why we can’t get enough of this place!
Part of Livingston County, the small town of Dansville is where one of our favorite state parks is located.
Covering over 500-acres of New York, Stony Brook State Park is known for its breathtaking gorge and waterfalls that are cascading down along Stony Brook Creek.
The state park has a few different hiking trails that will all take you through ethereal scenery, but there's one specific spot in the park that will blow you away.
All of the park's beautiful waterfalls flow down into a spring-fed pool that keeps refreshingly cold temperatures all throughout the summer.
Not only is the water nice and cool, it's also incredibly clear and vibrant with turquoise hues that will only further make you feel like you've uncovered the best hidden gem in our state.
Tucked between the walls of the park's gorge, this little slice of relaxation is more than worthy of being crossed off of your bucket list this summer.
Opening for the year on June 16th, the Stony Brook State Park natural pool will remain open through September.
While the park is open all year long from dawn til dusk, between June and September visitors can enjoy swimming in the natural pool from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The park is also filled with wonderful campsites, cabins, picnic tables, restrooms, hiking trails, and a playground for everyone to enjoy.
