It’s hard to believe that summer’s almost over, and even though fall is quickly creeping up on us we’re still experiencing high temperature days. So if you’re looking for new areas to explore that will provide you with a place to cool off, we’ve got something in mind for you. Just below our westernmost Finger Lakes and only an hour and a half away from Buffalo, there’s a state park that holds true beauty you’ll want to see for yourself.
Located in the town of Dansville out in Livingston County is the magical Stony Brook State Park.
So ditch the sprinkler in your backyard and upgrade your summer experience by taking a swim in Stony Brook State Park's natural pool before the season's over.
One thing we'd like to point out is that even though many of us have grown up visiting this state park for ages, this year the park's been cracking down on not allowing visitors to wade in the gorge waters. While many of us have gotten use to cooling off in the base of the park's waterfalls and in other areas along the creek, the park has now been enforcing rules of no swimming in these areas that can lead to fines of up to $250 dollars. To ensure that you have a good time at this park that won't be costly to you, stick to swimming in Stony Brook's pool.
