The Beach-Themed Bar In New York Where It Feels Like Summer All Year Long

Marge's Lakeside Inn in Rochester, New York, offers a year-round summer atmosphere with a historic beachfront bar and live music.

We get it: as the weather in the Empire State gets colder, it can be hard to accept that summer's not around any more. Fall and winter in New York are both amazing, beautiful times, but it's tough dealing without the carefree days of summer. Beach visits, swimming holes, water parks...it all combines to make summer such a magical season with so much joy. Find yourself missing summer in New York? One place you might want to check out for all the ecstasy of summer (plus some lovely libations) is the historic Marge's Lakeside Inn in Rochester.

This beachfront spot is tucked away right on Lake Ontario and has quite the history. Back in Prohibition, there was a speakeasy here. The owner brewed beer on site and illegally imported liquor via boats coming in from Canada.

Marge's in its current form opened more than 60 years ago. The atmosphere is joyful and it feels like summer all year long. Is there anything better than dipping your toes in the sand while sipping a tasty beverage?

The bar is so popular that when Lake Ontario swelled a few years back, patrons volunteered to put up sandbags. Nobody wanted to see Marge's gone!

They also host regular shows by local musicians. Whether they're inside or out depends on the weather, but since there's a fire pit, you can even stay outdoors on cooler evenings.

This is such a fun spot that you won't want to miss!
