Made up of more than 1,400-acres, the Kensico Dam Plaza has everything you could need to enjoy the ultimate day outside - from wide open lawn areas to pieces of history that you can walk right across.
Generally speaking, when we aren't in the middle of a pandemic, the Kensico Dam Plaza is the host of outdoor movie showings, antique shows, festivals, and events but this year things are looking a bit different.
Aside from its serene surroundings, the Kensico Dam Plaza is also sought out by many, including history buffs, who are interested in seeing this architectural gem for themselves - built all the way back in 1917.
At over 300-feet tall and more than 1,800-feet in length, the dam forms the Kensico reservoir and has been acquired as parkland for going on 60-years - even finding a place on the National Register of Historic Places and offering incredible views from the very top.
While the park is a great display of history that's more than exciting to explore, the Kensico Dam Plaza also memorializes significant pieces of our state and country’s past through spaces like ‘The Rising’ a September 11th memorial that displays the names of the 111 Westchester County Residents that passed away during the attack.
