All 8 of these blissful restaurants offer up food challenges where you have the chance to win your meal for free. Let’s check out our options!
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here:
1. The Ugly Rooster, Mechanicville
Now is about the time where I locate the nearest time travel machine and run back to the 80s as quickly as I can. Why, you may ask? Because Belinda Carlisle deserves the greatest pat on the back, for she was right, Heaven IS a place on Earth! Hiding away in the small city of Mechanicville you'll find the Colossal Pancake Challenge! These large and in charge pancakes are so huge, they have to be cooked specially in an oven! Wow!
Rules: You have just 20 minutes to finish these 2 twelve-inch pancakes topped with one pound of fruit and scoops of butter and whipped cream!
Prize: You'll rightfully earn your meal for free, receive a shirt and place on the Wall of Fame.
2. Kenka, New York
VIDEO This funky Japanese restaurant is a favorite among New Yorkers who are seeking out a food challenge! Tucked away in the East Village, you can experience a challenge like no other here. Captured above, you can see your meal will consist of four pounds of curry and rice, wow!
Rules: You have just a mere 20 minutes to clear off your plate at Kenka!
Prize: Your meal is free.
3. Chick-N-Pizza Works, Cheektowaga
VIDEO The Magnum Challenge! Located out near Buffalo, this food challenge sets itself apart from the others by switching up the rules. To complete this food challenge you'll not only need your empty stomach, but a teammate as well! When fresh out of the oven, this gigantic pie weighs about 13 pounds.
Like we said before, in order to tackle this food challenge you'll ned a partner to join you. Another rule? You won't be able to get up from the table for a bathroom break and you'll have one hour to wolf down that pie!
Prize: Both winners of this challenge will receive a $25 dollar gift card and the pizza is free.
4. Elma Towne Grille, Elma
This challenge was built for the most empty of stomachs, the most hungry of bellies. The Big Elm Burger Challenge, if you bravely decide to try it, will serve you one memorable 30-ounce burger. Topped off with all of the essentials, this burger also sits next to a whopping three pounds of fries!
Rules: You have 45 minutes to complete this mighty stack of meat!
Prize: Besides your meal being free, you will also get a free shirt and your picture on the Wall of Fame!
5. J&R's Steak House, Long Island
VIDEO Are you ready to eat your heart out? You better be! This monstrous size steak is 76 ounces and comes with a potato and side of either soup or salad!
Rules: You have one hour to wipe your plates completely clean!
Prizes: Alongside your giant meal being free, you'll also get a free shirt and join the Wall of Fame!
6. Brawler's Back-Alley Deli, Buffalo
VIDEO While you may be inclined to associate Buffalo's food challenges with wings, Brawler's Deli is here to show you another world! Coming in at 3 1/2 pounds, this scrumptious sandwich is quite literally a mouthful. Overflowing with 7 different kinds of meat, this sandwich stands at about a foot tall.
Ready for the rules and prizes? Not only do you get your meal for free if you finish eating this edible food tower, but you'll also receive a shirt and your name on the Wall of Fame!
7. Swingbellys BBQ, Long Beach
VIDEO Known simply and sternly as "The Challenge," this enormous plate offers a variety of deliciousness to fill up your stomach! What exactly will you find on your plate? Waiting for you will be a full slab of ribs, pulled pork on Texas Toast, brisket on Texas Toast, rib tips, two pieces of cornbread and two sides!
Rules: You and you alone will have one hour or less to devour this meal and you cannot leave the table until you're finished!
Prize: Your entire plate will be free, your picture will be put on the Wall of Fame and you'll walk out in a new, official Porker shirt!
8. The Wagon Trail BBQ, Rotterdam
VIDEO Large enough to have me currently hypothesizing about all the ways in which I could literally dive right into this burger, you can find this food challenge in Schenectady County. Loaded onto this plate you'll find within your massive burger, pulled pork, brisket and a pool of macaroni and cheese! Feeling full yet? Hopefully not! On your plate you'll also need to finish off one pound of french fries and one pound of onion rings.
Rules: Unfortunately, for this mighty challenge you only have a mere 30 minutes to eat all of your goodies.
Prize: Not only will your plate be paid for but you'll also be gifted a shirt and your own parking space for an entire month!
