The Cuckoo’s Nest Is A Restaurant In New York That’s Full Of Southern Flavor

We admit it, we're pretty far north (after all, we've got a baseball team called the Yankees). But believe it or not, you actually can get delicious southern food in New York! The Cuckoo's Nest in Albany, New York, serves up Southern fare that's so authentic you'll think you've been transported down South. Fried green tomatoes, crispy and tantalizing fried chicken, sweet honey butter biscuits... they've got it all. The Cuckoo's Nest serves breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner, so you can get your fill of tasty Southern treats any time of day.

This lovely spot was opened up by the pair that owns Crave, a popular Albany burger joint.

The husband-and-wife team felt that the Albany area lacked quality options for authentic Southern fare.

The Cuckoo's Nest serves classic Southern food with a modern twist. Fried squash with a honey drizzle and cinnamon crema might not be exactly what you'd expect, but it sure looks delicious!

And of course, you can't forget the chicken and waffles! Served up with a refreshing mimosa, and you've got a classic Southern brunch!

Their revolving selection of special menu items can't be beat. Chicken-fried steak with a delicious cheesy hash and sunny side eggs? Sign us up!

Lunch is just as delicious as breakfast and brunch. This is some of the best fried chicken in New York! You can even order a whole family-style meal to-go if you've got a group to feed.

Did we mention their dessert is incredible, too? This butterscotch praline pudding is absolutely drool-worthy.
