Lively Run Dairy Has The Best Cheese Near Buffalo

We’ve previously featured the Cuba Cheese Shop that puts you right in the middle of cheese heaven, and if you love this type of destination as much as we do, you’ll have loads of fun at the equally awesome small-town dairy farm that we recently stumbled upon! It requires a bit of a road trip from Buffalo, but this tasty place is totally worth the drive. It’s perfect for a delicious day trip!

Lively Run Dairy Farm & Creamery is located in the small town of Interlaken, roughly two hours east of Buffalo.

This tasty place has been operating since 1982 and is a bit different from the typical dairy farms found in this area of New York.

It’s one of the longest-operating commercial goat dairies in America!

Lively Run offers daily tours, on which you'll have a chance to explore the barn that houses the true stars of this farm: the goats.

The farm keeps French and Swiss goats that are all overwhelmingly friendly, adorable as can be, and excited to welcome you to their home.

While meeting the goats at the barn is certainly a highlight, one of our other favorite stops to make at Lively Run Dairy is its very own cheese shop.

Here, you can enjoy tastings of a variety of cheeses made on the farm. Yum!

They also pair up their cheeses with other local goods to create wonderful dishes and snacks for everyone to enjoy.

For just $5 dollars (or free if you're 12 years old or younger), visitors can enjoy a true Finger Lakes cheese tasting.
