Something that people don’t often realize? New York is full of enchanting castles that you can actually still visit and explore today. With some castles being transformed into amazing
attractions and even restaurants, we’re excited to share that one of New York’s historic structures has recently re-opened as a magical place where you can spend the night.
During these uncertain times, please keep safety in mind and consider adding destinations to your bucket list to visit at a later date.
Once a National Guard Armory, New York's Amsterdam Castle was built back in the late 1800s.
Recently re-opening as the Amsterdam Castle, the nearly 40,000-square foot building looks like it was pulled directly out of your favorite medieval fairytale.
As soon as you walk through the doors you'll begin to notice all of the incredible work and detail that went into creating this one-of-a-kind Bed & Breakfast.
Located in Amsterdam, New York, the current owners poured over $4 million dollars into the castle after purchasing it back in 2013 to create a charming place to stay that would also preserve the area's local history.
After five years of renovations, Amsterdam Castle is finally ready to host guests and to show off all that it has to offer.
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this local gem has certainly transformed into something special since the armory was decommissioned in 1994.
Amsterdam Castle currently features over 20 different rooms that are available to rent out - ranging from Junior Suites to King Suites that will make you feel like royalty.
Roughly an hour away from places like Albany, and Cooperstown, the Amsterdam Castle is the only armory in New York to ever be converted into a private residence or Bed & Breakfast.
Officially taking bookings, you'll want to plan a trip to Amsterdam Castle before word about this lesser-known gem gets out!
