These 12 Unique Fourth Of July Festivities In New Jersey Offer Fun For Everyone
New Jersey offers a lot in the way of July 4th festivities, though many of us enjoy the same celebrations each year. We barbecue by day, watch fireworks at night and maybe head to the beach for some fun. While this is great, there is so much more to explore. Our state offers many unique ways to spend the holiday to accommodate any interest. Whether you're a history buff or enjoy the luxe life, there is something on this list for you.
1. Enjoy a fireworks cruise.
New Jersey offers fantastic fireworks cruises from three locations! Depart from Weehawken or Highlands to watch the celebrations along the Hudson and East Rivers on July 4th or hop aboard the River Belle in Point Pleasant to catch the shows along our beaches on July 3rd. Food, drinks and entertainment will be available on all three cruises.
2. Head to the racetrack.
Take in the races and celebrate after! The Meadowland's Racetrack will be offering food and fireworks on July 3rd. Monmouth Racetrack will be hosting a Red, White and Blue Festival on July 5th with a massive barbecue, games, giveaways and live entertainment.
3. Step back in history at "Revolutionary Times".
Morristown played a major part in the Revolutionary War. Celebrate history at their four day Fourth of July event, starting on the 2nd. Enjoy crafting, live entertainment and free tours of Washington's Headquarters.
4. Challenge yourself to a 5K.
Burn off that barbecue and give back to a good cause. There will be races throughout the state including: Wildwood, Berlin, Medford, Cranford, Glen Rock, Haddon Heights and many more!
5. Party on a battleship.
"Battleship Blast" on Battleship New Jersey in Camden will be a night to remember. On July 4th from 6 - 10 pm, enjoy dinner, drinks, dessert, dancing and a fireworks display aboard the historic ship.
6. Forgo sleep in Atlantic City.
The city never sleeps and this weekend, the fun won't stop. Enjoy the beach, casinos and special events all day with fireworks at night on the 3rd and 4th.
7. Get your groove on for free.
If you're a music lover, you will surely appreciate all the free concerts this weekend throughout the state. Enjoy covers of your favorite artists without spending a dime!
8. Stop by Jersey City's Freedom Fest.
One of the largest Independence Day Festivals in North Jersey, this event offers live entertainment, carnival rides, fantastic food trucks, a boat parade and so much more!
9. Make waves at Oceanfest.
One of the largest Independence Day celebrations in South Jersey, Oceanfest will be held on July 4th in Long Branch. Enjoy food, fireworks, musicians, clowns, dancers and sand sculptures!
10. Splash away Independence Day.
Head to a water park that's hosting Fourth of July festivities and soak up the fun! Both Wildwater Kingdom and Runaway Rapids will be celebrating the holiday with special events and fireworks on both the 3rd and 4th.
11. Enjoy old fashioned fun at the Kite Festival.
Ocean City will be holding its annual Kite Festival on the Fourth, along with a bike parade, hula-hoop competition and fireworks.
12. Take someone out to the the ballgame AND buffet.
If you enjoy both baseball and food, this is the Fourth of July event for you. Take in a minor league Lakewood Blueclaws game and enjoy a buffet featuring BBQ chicken, pulled pork, hot dogs, mac n' cheese, watermelon and all of your summer cookout favorites.
