Fall is officially here and that means changing leaves and cool breezes (at some point, we’re sure). It also means pumpkins, apple picking, hayrides and harvest festivals. A fun way to celebrate the season, the whole family can enjoy a good harvest festival – here are a few you’ll find in New Jersey.
1. Fall Harvest Weekends, Johnson's Corner Farm, 133 Church Rd. Medford
Johnson's Corner Farm is hosting a harvest festival each weekend until October 29th. The festivals will include a corn maze, hayrides, apple and pumpkin picking, live music, a food tent and more.
2. Hopewell Harvest Fair, 35 Princeton Ave., Hopewell
Enjoy farm and food vendors, hayrides, pony rides, a petting zoo and children's games. There will also be a variety of contests including a bake-off. This event will be held on September 26th.
3. Fall Harvest Festival at Allaire Village, 4263 Atlantic Avenue, Farmingdale
Try your hand at cider pressing, play a variety of games, dance, take a wagon ride and enjoy a variety of demonstrations including a blacksmith demonstration and a militia demonstration. This event will be held on September 30th.
4. Sussex County Harvest, Honey & Garlic Festival, 37 Plains Road, Augusta
A celebration of all things agriculture, there will be a farmers market, beekeeper displays and demonstrations, vendors, childrens' activities and more. This event will be held on October 7th.
5. Deerfield Harvest Festival, 678 Morton Avenue, Bridgeton
This 4-day festival (October 5th-8th) offers an abundance of fall fun. Enjoy live music, amusement rides, jugglers, pony rides, a BMX bike show, farm and vineyard tours, crafters and other vendors, food and more.
6. Dunellen Harvest Festival, No. Washington Avenue, Dunellen
Enjoy live music, including a performance by Re-memberThen Acapella. You'll also find carriage rides, crafters, an apple pie contest and a pumpkin decorating contest.
7. Harvest Home Festival, Historic Longstreet Farm, Holmdel
Enjoy an old-fashioned harvest festival complete with wagon rides, games and live entertainment. Enjoy ongoing craft demonstrations including spinning, quilting, felting and weaving. There will also be woodworking demonstrations and a pie eating contest, among other activities.
8. HarvestFest, New Jersey Botanical Garden, Ringwood
Visit the gardens on October 14th-15th for hayrides, pumpkin painting, face painting, applesauce making, food, dancing, free garden tours, a plant sale and more.
9. Hoboken Harvest Festival, Pier A Park, Hoboken
Pony rides in Hoboken? Yep! There will also be a petting zoo, pumpkin painting, a trackless train, hay maze, crafts, moonwalk, spin art, horse and carriage rides, and more. This event will be held on October 21st.
10. History & Harvest Celebration, Greenwood Gardens, Short Hills
The gardens are gorgeous in the fall and you'll want to visit during this celebration for an extra special autumn treat. Enjoy live music, the great apple hunt, childrens' activities, pumpkin decorating and a scarecrow contest.
