Going the the grocery store is fine and dandy, but farmers markets are so much more fun. They bring the community together, focused around fresh, healthy fruits and veggies, along with a selection of goods by local vendors. They’re great way to spend a day, and lucky for us, New Jersey has plenty. You wouldn’t expect less from the Garden State.
One of the most popular farmers markets in the state, Cowtown (780 Harding Hwy, Pilesgrove) has been in business for 90 years. The indoor/outdoor market is held each week on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 8-4, year-round. In addition to fresh food, there is a flea market and over 400 vendors.
Sparta Farmers Market is now held year-round. The summer market (which started May 7th) is held on Saturdays from 9-1 at the Sparta Health and Wellness Center. The winter farmers market is held on Saturdays at the Sparta Middle School from 9:30-1. There are over two dozen vendors in the summer season including Kittatinny Mountain Farm, Hummus Boss, and Mo Green Juice.

Princeton Farmers Market runs on Thursdays from 11-4, between May 19th and November 17th. It is held rain or shine in Hinds Plaza. Enjoy over a dozen vendors including Jammin' Crepes, Jersey City Veggie Burgers, Picklelicious and Terhune Orchards.
This farmers market is held from May-December, 4-8 pm on Mondays and Thursdays in the Grove Street PATH Plaza. Enjoy fruits and veggies from local farms along with baked goods and fresh cut flowers. This indoor/outdoor market is located at 41 Clementon Road, Berlin. The outdoor market is open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 8-4 and offers fresh produce and over 700 vendor spaces selling food, farm fare, flea market finds and more. The indoor market is open Thursday-Saturday from 9-8 and Sunday from 9-6. You'll find over 70 shops indoors selling food, furniture, Amish goods and more.
This indoor market is located at 19 Bridge St. in Stockton and held on Fridays from 3-7, Saturdays from 9-4 and on Sundays from 10-4. What began as an outdoor market in 1948 is now an indoor market held at 960 Spruce Street
Lawrence Township. Summer hours are Wednesday-Saturday 9-6 and Sunday 10-4. Enjoy over a dozen vendors selling meat, cheese, seafood, fruits, vegetables and baked goods. Options include Cedarville Farms, The Pie'd Piper, Pulaski Meats and The Amish Country Store.
