What other things can I find on the Kancamagus Highway?

It is true that the Kancamagus Highway is the perfect place to view amazing fall foliage, but it is also a jump point for some amazing adventure. Many people drive down the road without taking the time to stop and enjoy the trails but we have some recommendations for you to make the most out of any trip on this stretch of road.

Take a walk across an epic suspension bridge and into the forest at Lincoln Wood Head Trailhead. This is actually a jump point for some pretty intense backpacking trails if you ever want to spend days in the glorious White Mountains. You can also take a leisurely stroll on the Discovery Trail. Plenty of benches and interpretive signs line the trail, allowing a nice and simple walk through the woods. Make sure to stop by Sabbaday Falls for an incredible waterfall with a short easy hike.

Another great place for adventure is the Rocky Gorge Scenic Area. Follow the river from the parking lot for a simple paved hike to an amazing waterfall and a stunning gorge. Champney Falls is another great opportunity to get off of the scenic road and into the forest. The Albany Covered Bridge is a must-stop location for anyone traveling on the highway. This beautiful covered bridge is easily accessible from the parking area and is perfect for pictures. Walk on down to the river and splash in the water or relax to the beautiful sounds of the White Mountains. Take advantage of all the overlooks throughout the drive as well.
