New Hampshire’s outdoor options are plentiful. Just one weekend outside will prove it! From the many state parks to the simple trails located in small towns around the state, there’s an adventure to be had from border to border! The ones we love the best are those that pack a punch and today’s activity certainly does. With lots to see and a level of adventure that might be new for some, this is a great trail to tackle when you’re in the mood for something unique.
The Falling Waters Trail, located in Franconia Notch, offers a great way to get to the summit of Little Haystack Mountain. But if you hike just a portion, you'll find an easy route leading to a few different beautiful waterfalls.
The route begins slightly sloped, but not with any serious elevation. About a quarter-mile into the trail you'll cross a lovely footbridge where the trail meets Old Bridle Path. Continue on Falling Waters Trail.
You can also choose to continue the hike upwards towards the summit of Little Haystack. But remember that this route is considered challenging so if you're not an experienced hiker it's best to head back and recall the memories of this beauty of a route.
Falling Waters Trail continues to the top of Haystack Mountain, but if you choose to do the entire route remember that it’s considered difficult. Choose to turn around after the last waterfall and you should enjoy an easier hike. You can learn more about it by checking out alltrails.com.
Michelle has lived in many places, but counts Maine as one of the best. In addition to the smell of ocean water in the air on rainy days in Portland, she loves puppies, photography, funny people, the Maine Red Claws, traveling, fresh tomatoes, Cambodia and filling out forms.
