In a state with the history of New Hampshire, it’s not unexpected to find creepy ghost stories in well-known, public places. But the haunting tale from this restaurant and bar has always fascinated us.

Most of the time Country Tavern Restaurant and Bar in Nashua is just your regular-looking restaurant. In fact, it's been operating as a bar and restaurant since the 1980s and it looks pretty lovely!

The farmhouse was built by Captain Ford in 1741 as a home for him and his much-younger wife, Elizabeth. Ford's busy job meant he was away at sea for months at a time, taxing the marriage almost from the start.

After a year-long period at sea, Ford came home to find that Elizabeth had given birth to a baby. Knowing it was not possible that the baby was his, he became enraged, killing the child and locking his wife in a closet.
