The latter is what you’ll find at the Old Courthouse Restaurant in Newport, which, as its name suggests, served a very different purpose before it served up amazing meals.

The building that houses the Old Court House Restaurant was constructed in 1826 to house the Superior Court for Sullivan County. It later became a public school before housing the district court, and eventually was transformed into a restaurant. It's even been added to the National Register of Historic Places!
