This Easy 1.7-Mile Trail In Wisconsin Is Covered In Wildflower Blooms In The Springtime

The Logan Creek State Natural Area is a pristine sanctuary that offers nature lovers a serene escape into a bit of Door County's remaining wilderness, boasting a 1.7-mile loop trail that will take you to some beautiful spring wildflowers. This special Wisconsin natural area is owned by the Ridges Sanctuary, a nature preserve and land trust with a large land holding near Baileys Harbor.

Located along the north shore of Clark Lake, the preserve is a northern wet-mesic forest that’s filled with white cedar and black ash trees.

The Logan Creek State Natural Area is a little off the radar compared to Door County’s popular state parks, which draw large numbers of visitors, and that’s part of what makes this place special. It’s a place to experience nature and tread very carefully.

The trail is not long – it runs about 1.7 miles, and it might take 45 minutes to complete. But this is a place to take your time and take in nature, one quiet step at a time.

During mid to late May, this wild landscape comes alive with a breathtaking display of spring blooms, including the delicate petals of spring-beauty, Dutchman's-breeches, toothwort, large-flowered trillium, and trout lily.

The site is home to some pristine wetland habitat. Logan Creek, a 5.4-mile-long stream, winds its way southeast through the property from Lost Lake to Clark Lake.

Designated as an Outstanding Water Resource, the creek provides a vital habitat for a variety of wildlife, including some state-endangered plant species.
