This Underrated Island Just Might Be The Most Beautiful Place In Wisconsin
Wisconsin is full of lesser known beautiful places. Today, I want to talk about Washington Island, an island 7 miles northeast of the tip of Door County. If you've visited Door County, you may have gotten up here. It is an island, so it is only accessibly by ferry. However, you can bring your car. It is truly a place to escape the tension of day-to-day life. So come on up and stay awhile.
1. Taking the ferry over to Washington Island is actually a super fun part of the experience.
2. As part of Door County, Washington Island has that quaint feel you come to know from the mainland.
3. It, too, pays homage to its Scandinavian heritage.
4. You can visit a Stavekikre, which is a Scandinavian church popular during the Medieval period.
5. Right away, you'll notice that the beaches here are absolutely phenomenal--particularly Schoolhouse Beach.
6. The waters can be chilly.
7. But the rocks are smooth and the waters crystal clear.
8. It is the perfect place to kayak.
9. It also is home to some primitive campsites.
10. Whatever you choose to do, Washington Island is the perfect place to get away from it all.
