Wisconsin has a ton of great beaches, but there are a few that will make you feel live you’ve traveled to the ocean. There’s one special beach that will not only make you feel like you’ve left the state, it’s a hidden gem that you might have practically all to yourself. It’s called Seagull Bar, and it’s a beautiful Wisconsin beach worth discovering. Here’s why.
Seagull Bar is located at the end of Marinette’s Red Arrow Park. The park is located near the Menominee River, which forms the border between Wisconsin and Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
Red Arrow Park has plenty of parking and amenities like picnic tables and bathrooms, and a small swimming beach. But if you walk through the park along the shoreline you’ll find an area that’s completely undeveloped and pristine.
It’s called Seagull Bar, and it’s an official state Natural Area. Wisconsin State Natural Areas are protected areas that are designated by the state Department of Natural Resources to preserve and showcase the state's unique and ecologically significant natural spaces.
There are trails on the bar that take you through a grassy area and a long stretch of sand. It’s a spit that extends into the lake, and it’s simply gorgeous.
Seagull Bar draws scores of migratory birds, so it’s a mecca for bird watchers and nature lovers.
It’s also a place to simply relax on the sand. It’s especially beautiful at the beginning and end of the day – you can catch a nice sunrise and sunset here!
I’ve seen a lot of great Wisconsin beaches, but the first time I visited this one, I was blown away, and not just from the lake breeze! Learn more about Seagull Bar on the state Department of Natural Resources website. Interested in discovering more Wisconsin attractions? Here are some of the best.
