Take A Stroll Through A Field Of Sunflowers Or A Maze Of Corn At Gritt’s Farm In West Virginia
Gritt’s Farm in Buffalo, West Virginia offers seasonal activities and festivals, making it a year-round destination for family fun.
Whether you want to hang on to the last bits of summer or dive headfirst into fall, Gritt's Farm in Buffalo, West Virginia is the place for you. Fields of towering sunflowers speak of sun and warmth and light, while stacks of vibrant orange pumpkins speak of crisp mornings, warm sweaters, and bright fall colors. And of course, winter on the farm looks, feels, and smells like Christmas, and in spring, the whole place transforms into a hive of tilling, planting, and tending the fields and gardens. Basically, Gritt's Farm has just the spot for you no matter what your seasonal preference!
For most of the month of September, you can come enjoy a stroll through the magnificent sunflower fields on Gritt's Farm in Putnam County.
The sunflowers' cheery heads nod and bow as they follow the sun to and fro across the sky. It's the perfect spot to birdwatch or snap a few pictures.
Then, beginning in late September, the farm transforms into a giant fall festival: Gritt's Fun Farm.
With a huge corn maze (this year, the maze is Jeopardy themed!), slides, haybales, wagon rides, corn bins, and more, this is family fun at its finest.
The Fun Farm is open Thursday through Sunday, and at least for this year, you must purchase tickets in advance online in order to participate.
Then, as the year turns even colder, the farm transforms for Christmas as the ground lies dormant in preparation for the frenzy of activity awaiting each spring.
Are you planning to carve out time to visit Gritt's Farm soon, or have you already been this year? Which season is your favorite on the farm?
To learn more or purchase tickets for any of the Fun Farm activities, visit their website here. You can also follow them on Facebook here. They have many events throughout the year, so even if a corn maze of Alex Trebek's face isn't your idea of a good time, you should still check out one of their farm-to-table dinners, for example!
The Pumpkin Farm At Saltwell is another good spot to spend a festive fall day!
