7 Gorgeous Frozen Waterfalls in Washington That Must Be Seen to Be Believed

Winter in Washington is known for being pretty dangerous. So, whenever we enter another chilly Washington winter, it’s tempting to hang up our hiking boots and stay inside until spring. But if we did that, we'd be missing out on some of our most beautiful scenery, including more than a few icy and snow-covered waterfalls. Just looking at these incredible photos of frozen waterfalls in Washington might make you decide to bundle up and brave the elements! All are enchanting in their own unique way.

1. Snoqualmie Falls, Snoqualmie

Just look at frozen Snoqualmie Falls! At 286 feet tall, this Washington favorite is a stunner in every season, but winter is extra magical. Best of all, you’ll only need to walk a short distance from the parking lot to see this frozen beauty in all its glory.

2. Narada Falls, Mount Rainier National Park

If the weather doesn’t take your breath away, these beautiful sights will. You'll find plenty of hidden waterfalls dotting this stunning (and yet untamed) national park in WA! The trek to see this icy cascade can be rough, so be prepared with proper hiking gear.  

3. Palouse Falls, Palouse Falls State Park

With icy roads and closures in the passes, winter in Washington may not seem like the best time to take a road trip. But if you're careful and looking to explore some of the state's less-crowded corners, Palouse Falls is always quite a sight. And in winter ... *chef's kiss*

4. Bridal Veil Falls, North Cascades National Park

Bridal Veil Falls in the North Cascades freezes every year, and it looks amazing, doesn't it?? I absolutely love the way the water formed icicles as it cascaded over the rocks.

Washington's waterfalls don't have to completely ice over to be stunning in winter. But rest assured ... Whatcom Falls is gorgeous when it does!

6. Franklin Falls, King County

Icy Franklin Falls looks even more beautiful in person, and the hike is just as lovely! As one of our favorite frozen waterfalls in Washington, it belongs on your list.
