This 3-Mile Hike In Virginia Leads To The Dreamiest Swimming Hole

That's exactly what you'll discover along the way as you venture through Shenandoah National Park's Rose River Falls in Virginia. This 3.5-mile loop features plenty of places to splash around, some of which are truly incredible swimming holes. So lace up those hiking boots and don't forget your swimsuit!

Rose River Falls, a gorgeous forested trail hiding in Shenandoah National Park, can only be described as magical.

With its flowing cascades and series of inviting waterfalls, this trek is perfect for a summer outing.

Once you begin the hike, you'll want to stay to the left to avoid the fire road. The trail is rated as moderate and most hikers will find it doable.

Along the way, you'll enjoy observing a series of small waterfalls and cascades. Not only does this add to the ambiance of the woods, but also provides a few places to cool off your feet.

You'll also find a swimming hole or two large enough to take a full dip in. The water may be brisk, but what could be better after a healthy hike?

A majority of the trail follows the water, but other portions feature gorgeous mountain overlooks and plenty of wildflowers to admire during the warmer months.

Be sure to allow at least 2.5 hours if you want to take advantage of some of the swimming spots along the way. Better yet, pack a picnic and you can enjoy this trail all day!
