Hike This Stairway To Nowhere In Vermont For A Magical Woodland Adventure
Explore the enchanting Stone Steps hike at Riverside Farm in Pittsfield, Vermont, offering stunning views and a moving tribute to cancer fighters.
Taking a long walk through the woods is good for the body and soul, especially if you’re tackling this charming stairway to "nowhere" in Vermont. Here’s how you can wander through the forest on your way to nowhere in particular and earn some stunning views while you’re at it.
These magical stone stairs in the woods are part of one of the most beautiful hikes you can take in Vermont.
Known as the Stone Steps, they’re located at Riverside Farm in Pittsfield. This winding slab staircase was created by a local athlete in honor of women, men, and children who have fought cancer.
They twist upwards along the hillside and lead you up through the trees. At the end of the stairs, you’ll be dropped off at a grassy spot with a little stone cabin and not much else….
…except some truly stunning views, of course.
On your way up the steps, keep your eyes peeled for curious wildlife like deer and chipmunks. You should also take note of small stones along the path bearing the hand-painted names of people who have dealt with cancer.
Don’t forget to say hello to the eight-foot statue of the Native woman Chenoa situated along the path. It’s a beautiful and moving piece of art.
Please be aware that no dogs are permitted on the steps. Be sure to mind signs indicating the correct parking area for visiting the steps.
You’re sure to have an enchanting time hiking these forest stairs to nowhere. Be sure to sign the guestbook when you’re done!
