There is something magical about fall. I love the cooler weather, the chunky sweaters, and the pumpkin spice everything. But, my favorite thing about this time of year is the fall foliage. However, to fully immerse yourself in the vibrant reds, oranges, and yellows here in Utah, it’s all about your timing. So, when do the leaves change colors in Utah in 2024?
While it’s impossible to know with 100 percent accuracy when fall foliage in Utah will be at its peak, an interactive fall foliage map 2024 by SmokyMountains.com gives us a good idea.
September 22 is the first official day of fall. Around this time, you will start to see signs of changing leaves in the Beehive State but the real beauty is on its way.
By the first week in October, fall foliage will be at its peak in northern Utah. This is a wonderful time to plan a scenic drive. I highly recommend exploring Little Cottonwood Canyon and the Alpine Scenic Loop (my two favorite fall drives).
Peak fall foliage only lasts a few weeks and by the middle of October, you may be too late. But don’t fret because southern Utah’s fall beauty is just getting started.
By the end of October, southern Utah will hit its peak fall foliage. Don’t wait too long to see the changing leaves in this part of the state as by mid-November, it will slowly fade away.
I would recommend a visit to Zion National Park when fall foliage is at its peak in southern Utah. This is my favorite time to visit this national park and much less crowded than the summer season.
Fall in Utah truly is splendid. There’s just nothing quite like it.
Rather than Google “When do leaves change color in Utah?” the above interactive map from SmokyMountains.com is a terrific guide.
