Some Of The Best Sunsets In The State Are Found On Utah’s Antelope Island

Antelope Island in Utah offers stunning sunsets and is a prime spot for photography and camping.

Nature's reward at the end of the day is a brilliant sunset, with oranges, reds, and yellows melting across the sky. While you can witness the sunset pretty much anywhere, Antelope Island is one of the best places in Utah to photograph one. Check out these 12 photos of unforgettable sunsets that were taken on the island.

Antelope Island is an oasis on the Great Salt Lake. Covering 42 square acres, the island is home to bison, antelope, mule deer, jackrabbits, and many more creatures. It also draws as many as 300,000 visitors every year.

You can escape most of the crowds by hanging out here to witness the sunset, and it's definitely worth the overnight visit to capture the vibrant sunsets here.

Depending on the time of year, the sunsets over the Great Salt Lake can be a deep, rich red...

...a pretty blend of pale and dark yellow...

...or shades of orange with brilliant yellow blazing through.

When the cloud cover is heavy you might not get the deep, rich hues that you'll see some evenings, but the sun itself can be pretty impressive.

Before the sun starts to sink, lace up your hiking boots and hit the Frary Peak Trail. It takes you to the top of the island for a magnificent view.

You'll capture some gorgeous photos by taking a hike...

...but you can also get some pretty shots right from the Bridger Bay Campground.

Even your favorite subjects are better in front of an Antelope Island sunset!

While there are many places in the Beehive State to capture a stunning sunset, Antelope Island is one of our favorites.

Camp overnight at Antelope Island State Park so you can enjoy the sunset and the fresh air. There are three campgrounds to choose from: Bridger Bay, White Rock Bay, and Ladyfinger.

The island is invaded by biting gnats every spring from April through June. These annoying little insects aren't affected at all by insect repellant. The park recommends fine-mesh head nets, available at the Visitor Center gift shop.
