If you're in search of new ideas for family outings, why not plan a trip to the zoo? Head to the Fort Worth Zoo and visit Stingray Cove, an immersive exhibit where you can touch stingrays and baby sharks. It's so much fun for all ages!
Texas' very own Fort Worth Zoo, which houses more than 7,000 animals, was recently voted the #1 zoo in the U.S. by USA Today.
Nestled on 64 sprawling acres, it's the nation's oldest continuously operating zoo.
No matter what your favorite zoo animal is, rest-assured it probably has a home in one of the 11 exhibits.
From flamingos and other feathered friends to lions, tigers, giraffes, and primates, nearly the entire animal kingdom is represented. It's like taking a world tour in just a few hours!
One of many reasons the Fort Worth Zoo shines above all the rest is its plethora of hands-on experiences.
Rather than passively observing the animals all day long, you can get up-close-and-personal with them!
Stingray Cove is among the most popular of these immersive activities.
More than 50 stingrays and baby sharks swim in a shallow saltwater pool, occasionally getting close enough to the sides that you can reach out and touch them.
Entry to Stingray Cove is an extra $4 on top of the regular zoo admission cost. Tickets can be purchased just outside of the exhibit.
If you'd like to feed the stingrays, food is available for $1 per cup.
Some additional attractions you'll be hard-pressed to find at other zoos include a replica Old West town, carousel, swinging bridge, and train ride.
There's enough to keep you busy from open 'till close!
Address: 1989 Colonial Parkway, Fort Worth, TX 76110.
General admission is $16 for ages 13+, $12 for children 3-12 and seniors 65+, and no charge for toddlers two and under. Parking is $5 per vehicle.
