Experience The Texas Forest From A New Perspective On The Canopy Walk At Phil Hardberger Park

Canopy walks are such a neat way to enjoy nature. They provide bird's-eye views of the forested landscape and offer a unique perspective you simply can't obtain from ground level. Phil Hardberger Park in San Antonio boasts a 1,000-foot-long canopy walk that lets you observe all sorts of wildlife from high above the ground, and it promises to be an absolutely enchanting adventure.

In late December 2020, the largest wildlife land bridge in the U.S. opened right here in Texas.

The bridge, named after key sponsor Robert L.B. Tobin, crosses over Wurzbach Parkway to connect the two sides of the park.

In addition to being the largest bridge of its kind in the country, this architectural feat is special for another reason: both people and animals can make their way across!

An 18-foot-high Skywalk is the newest feature of the bridge, added in early April 2021.

You can access it from either the Savanna Loop Trail or Water Loop Trail.

Meandering through the treetops, the 1,000-foot-long Skywalk offers unparalleled views of the park and all its animal inhabitants.

Even better, the Skywalk is ADA accessible for its entire length.

Shaded benches let visitors relax and take in the awe-inspiring scenery.

These seating areas also allow for respectful wildlife observation so as not to disturb any of the woodland creatures.

The opening of the Skywalk marks the completion of the Robert L.B. Tobin Land Bridge.

It was a long and arduous process, but the result intertwines nature and humanity in a truly beautiful way.
