A fairytale-like adventure is waiting for you on the Whispering Pines Nature Trail at Tyler State Park. This easy, 1.3-mile hike is named after the plethora of pine trees that tower majestically throughout the park (and provide some much-needed shade during the warmer months).
With an elevation gain of just over 100 feet, the trail is suitable for beginners. It only takes about 30 minutes to complete the entire loop. Hiking through this verdant landscape peppered with colorful plant life is truly akin to entering a storybook. You'll even have the opportunity to cross several wooden footbridges that only serve to enhance the magic. Furry friends and the little ones would love them, too!
Several small staircases - some even made out of logs - appear to be built into the earth as if for use by trolls or other forest-dwelling creatures. Perhaps the neatest thing about this trail is the gorgeous waterfall you'll encounter along the way.
The waterfall is not large and doesn't always flow, but watching it cascade down the rocks is a truly unforgettable experience. Plus, there is a stone pathway next to the waterfall, where the kids, the pup, (and you too) can have some extra fun.
Another hidden gem on the Whispering Pines Nature Trail is a natural spring surrounded by lush greenery. This pretty little oasis will take your breath away!
