An Ice Creamery And Petting Zoo In Texas, Jersey Barnyard Is A Dream Come True

Visit Jersey Barnyard in Texas to pet farm animals and enjoy Blue Bell ice cream.

We're all about our ice cream in Texas (as long as it's Blue Bell, of course.) Farm animals also have a special place in our hearts whether we grew up with them or simply admired them at the State Fair — so why not combine two of our greatest loves? It might sound a bit strange, but it works beautifully. Come to the Jersey Barnyard in Texas to pet friendly, adorable barnyard critters before ending your visit with a heaping scoop of ice cream. There's truly no better way to spend a country day.

The farm has been around for 100 years, nestled among a grove of oak trees in the rolling hills of La Grange. You'll have the opportunity to tour the family-owned dairy farm, pet the animals, and enjoy a heaping scoop of Blue Bell while gazing out at the countryside.

Approximately 100 cows roam the 740 acres of green pasture and get milked twice per day. Since most people have never gotten an up-close look at where milk comes from, the Frerichs family has a passion for showing visitors the farm-to-market process dairy goes through.

Kiddos will absolutely love meeting all the animals! Guided tours are held every day and include feeding and petting goats, chickens, ducks, and rabbits — don't worry, they're all friendly!

For just a small fee, you can even nurse a calf. They're absolutely adorable and thrive on attention from visitors.

After you've had your fill of animal kisses, take a tractor-drawn hayride to see the dairy cows. You can even try your hand at milking them!

Before you leave, stop by the gift shop and get a scoop or two of your favorite Blue Bell flavor to enjoy as the sun sets behind the farm. There's truly nothing more satisfying after a long day spent outdoors.

There are also plenty of fresh dairy products for sale, so be sure to bring a cooler with you! Stock up on goat cheese, yogurt, raw milk, and so much more natural, unprocessed deliciousness.

A carton of pasture-raised eggs absolutely must find its way home with you as well. Just look at those colors! They're almost too pretty to eat (almost.)

Seasonal events like an Easter Egg Hunt, Pumpkin Patch, and Great Pumpkin Run are held annually, so definitely plan on making the trip!
