Sip Beer With Flamingos On The New Flamingo Terrace At The Houston Zoo In Texas
The Houston Zoo has opened Flamingo Terrace, a tropical-themed beer garden near the flamingo exhibit.
Flamingos are such cool creatures - for example, did you know their signature light pink color comes from the small crustaceans that make up their diet? Or how about the fact that flocks can be as large as 10,000 birds in the wild? There's so much to love about these unique birds, and the Houston Zoo has recently unveiled a whole new way to enjoy them. Located just outside the flamingo exhibit, the Flamingo Terrace is a tropical-themed beer garden where you can crack open a cold one and chow down on bar snacks while admiring the amazing animals.
For nearly a century, the Houston Zoo has been one of the city's most beloved attractions, welcoming over two million visitors each year.
Located in Hermann Park, in the heart of the Museum District, the Houston Zoo is home to over 6,000 animals from 900 different species.
One of the most popular exhibits at the zoo is the flamingo exhibit, which you'll find in the Birds of the World section.
These particular flamingos are Chilean flamingos, a threatened species originating from southern South America.
From their light pink hue to the way they stand on one leg, flamingos are always a treat to observe.
Since the birds are such a crowd favorite, the zoo has recently opened a fun new attraction just outside the habitat that promises to take your flamingo experience to a whole new level.
The newest addition to the zoo is the Flamingo Terrace, located directly across from the Reflection Pool.
Leading straight into the flamingo exhibit, the terrace is an exotic oasis complete with a bamboo forest, umbrella tables, and all sorts of colorful flowers.
More than just something pretty to look at, the terrace is also a beer garden.
Offering seasonal brews and bar snacks, it's the perfect place to kick back, relax, and crack open a cold one in paradise with a few of your closest friends.
Plenty of seating is available, so rest assured you'll have no trouble finding a spot.
As for the beer selection, it's provided by Houston's very own Saint Arnold Brewing Company and features some of their bestselling varieties, including Art Car IPA, Lawnmower, and Oktoberfest.
Address: 6200 Hermann Park Drive, Houston, TX, 77030.
Zoo hours are 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily.
Ticket prices vary from day to day, so visit the zoo's website or Facebook page for the most accurate information.
