It’s Almost The Time Of Year For One Of The Most Beautiful Natural Phenomena In Texas
It's about that time, y'all! Our beautiful state flower has started to bloom for the spring and will continue to rear its head across Texas as the season progresses. I know I'm looking forward to Sunday drives with vibrant blues and purples lining the roadside. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: we truly are so blessed to live in the great state of Texas.
From Big Bend all the way to East Texas, these beautiful flowers can be found all across our great state throughout the spring.
The first patches of the season have started to bloom out West. A different species than elsewhere in the state, this variety can grow up to four feet tall!
Bluebonnets are a trademark of Texas, found on everything from souvenirs to post cards and symbolizing the peace and quiet of the many wide open pastures in our state.
These flowers have served as backdrops for marriage proposals, family photoshoots, and everything in between for decades.
And it's basically tradition to pile into the car and take long Sunday spring drives into the country to see them lining the roadside.
One of the best, most well-known locations for bluebonnets is Fredericksburg's Willow City Loop scenic drive. It's on Highway 16 towards Llano, and should be at the top of your list this year.
Luckily, 2017 is expected to be an above average bluebonnet season due to the warmer winter temperatures and ample precipitation we saw this season.
So whether you take a drive through the mountains of the west, plains of the east, or hills of the center, every Texan has an obligation to admire our beautiful state flower each spring.
Where's your family's favorite place to drive around and admire the bluebonnets?
