Managed by the City of Beaumont, Cattail Marsh is located inside Terrell Park, a historic, 500-acre park dating back to 1929.

The marsh is a nature lover's paradise, boasting some of the best birding in the area, plus aquatic wildlife and miles of scenic hiking trails.

Easily the most popular spot in the park is the boardwalk, which leads out into the marsh to afford onlookers a unique viewing opportunity.

You'll essentially be walking on the water, gazing down at the wetlands teeming with life under your feet.

It's so quiet out here, all you can hear is the chirping of birds and gentle rustle of reeds in the wind.

You'll almost feel like you're in the middle of nowhere - the trail offers a peaceful escape without leaving city limits.

All along the trail, signs detail the various types of birds and other wildlife commonly seen in the area.

In addition to birds, Cattail Marsh is also known for its large alligator population.
