There's nothing like a good ol' boardwalk hike – especially one that sneaks up where you'd least expect to find it. That's exactly what visitors encounter at the Texas Travel Information Center in Orange, and it's the perfect place to stretch your legs after a long drive.

Immediately upon entering the Lone Star State from Louisiana, you're greeted by a welcome sign that can only be described as Texas-sized.

It's conveniently placed right before the Texas Travel Information Center in Orange, a one-stop shop for tourists and locals alike to discover new things about the amazing place we call home.

Inside, just like every other visitor center, brochures line the shelves to entice guests with all sorts of restaurants and attractions.

Just outside the back door, however, is a world of wetland beauty that takes many by surprise.

Blue Elbow Swamp sits just behind the rest stop, its landscape defined by tall grass, towering trees, and a variety of wildlife.

A short-and-sweet boardwalk trail cuts through the landscape, affording travelers a perfect opportunity to stretch their legs.

This elevated walkway offers a unique perspective of the surroundings, as it's just high up enough so that you can observe the landscape from above while still being immersed in it.

Plaques are located every so often detailing the different animal and plant life you might encounter.

Would it be a swamp without gators? Large and small, they lurk near the boardwalk – sometimes a little too close for comfort.
