Take This Amazing 2-Day Getaway In Texas If You Need A Break From It All

Sometimes, the stresses of daily life get the best of us and we need to escape to the countryside to clear our heads. Lucky for you, I have just the trip. Our destination is Fredericksburg, a quaint hill country community with plenty to do and gorgeous views to relax you to the core. And the trip is only two days long, Saturday and Sunday, so it's doable for anyone.

Day 1

Good morning! We've got to hit the road early if we want to hit all the stops we have planned. Our hotel won't be ready as soon as we get there, so our first stop is Texas Wine Tours. You'll get to ride in a limo to four beautiful vineyards and taste the best wine in the state of Texas. More information on their website.

The wine tour finishes at about 4, so we still have a few hours to kill before dinner. Next up is the National Museum of the Pacific War. It's located here because Fredericksburg is the childhood home of WWII Fleet Admiral Chester Nimitz. You can admire numerous artifacts and view interactive exhibits about the war as a whole and Admiral Nimitz's role in it.

You need some more wine, right? That's what I thought. We're headed off to dinner at Cabernet Grill, one of the most highly rated restaurants in the city. Enjoy some coconut-crusted shrimp or a juicy steak with a side of three cheese grits or cheddar scallion mashed potatoes. Yum!

We've had a full day, haven't we? It's time to wind down for the night at the Magnolia House Bed and Breakfast. It'll feel just like home - but the meal that awaits you in the morning will remind you that you're in paradise. Sweet dreams!

Day 2

Rise and shine! Start your day with a big, hearty breakfast before we set off on our last few adventures before heading home.

You didn't think we'd come out to Fredericksburg without seeing Enchanted Rock, did you? We'll marvel at the big pink blob in all its glory before it gets too hot outside to enjoy it.

And on the way back, we'll catch a glimpse of the breathtaking bluebonnets of the Willow City Loop.

And finally, we'll stroll down Main Street and see all the historic shops and restaurants and feel the unmistakable small-town Texas charm that's unique to communities like Fredericksburg.
