Do you have ANY idea how gorgeous winter in Tennessee can be? It might come as a surprise when we show off our winter wonderland but it is true, we have some beautiful scenery in the volunteer state and that doesn't stop just because of a little cold weather. It makes it even better! Don't write off perfection just because of a bit of snow. We may not know how to drive in it, but we sure can paint a pretty landscape. Take a look!

1. A most beautiful Tennessee winter scene

If only we could all live in a place like this...

2. Wouldn't you love this in your yard?

We would. A million times yes.

3. Ober Mountain, Gatlinburg

No list of winter photos of the volunteer state would be complete without a great shot of Tennessee's only ski resort. Ober Mountain is the go-to place for some of the best winter activities with skiing, snowboarding, tubing, and so much more.

4. Sill Branch Falls, Erwin

There are many waterfalls to explore in Tennessee but we were lucky enough to catch the frozen falls of Sill Branch Falls and just look at how beautiful this is! Check out the whole hike by watching this Adventuring in the Moment Video.

A winter sunset is really a beautiful thing.

6. Roan Mountian, Roan Mountain State Park

When East Tennessee gets blanketed with a fresh coat of snow the only thing to do is drive to the top of Roan Mountain and experience one of the most enchanted winter wonderlands we have in our state. 7. Arrington looks amazing in the later seasons

This photo proves you don't need to have a fresh blanket of snow to make a winter picture beautiful. The drab hues of the cold months seem to drain life as if it gets stored in the ground where it awaits spring.

8. Across the river and through the woods

Doesn't this look like the best kind of place to live? A cozy little seasonal picture with a lit-up Christmas tree in the window just fills our hearts with warm joy.

9. Let's get lost

We could drive down this road for absolute ages. This picture was actually taken in the early 70s in northeastern Tennessee somewhere near Johnson City. Believe it or not this picture isn't black and white but truly captures the hues of gray in this wintery scene.

10. The most perfect morning snow

We don't want to mess up this fresh snow! Waking up and seeing this outside of your window as a kid could only mean one thing; snow day! A whole day filled with snowball fights, building snowmen, and sledding down the hills. It may be rare but we will make the most of this pretty snow while we have it.

11. A foggy Chattanooga night

This scene is both eerie and yet inviting all the same. There is a distinct beauty when the fog rolls in and settles thickly in our lowlands.

12. Ice droplets from heaven

How stunning are these small details?! Often times we slip past the small things in life and miss a whole world to appreciate right under our noses.

13. A frost flower found in the Land Between the Lakes

A beautiful naturally occurring phenomenon where thin ice is formed on long-stem plants making unique patterns. Often time the formation of such ice forms takes shape like that of a flower thus the name frost flowers.

14. A wonderful wintry wonderland

This looks like something out of a fairy tale!

15. Frozen Fall Creek Falls, Fall Creek Falls State Park

This doesn't even look real...But here it is. During the winter Fall Creek Falls, the tallest waterfall in Tennessee, doesn't freeze due to the high volume of water flowing, however, it does transform. This incredible scene is a rare find but if you find yourself anywhere near Spencer when the snow falls make your way into the state park to witness this scene for yourself.
