You’ll Be Happy To Hear That South Dakota’s Fall Foliage Is Expected To Be Bright And Bold This Year
South Dakota's fall foliage is expected to be vibrant and beautiful this year, with peak colors from October 5th to 21st.
Is anyone else completely smitten over the fact that fall is basically here and that all of the leaves are beginning to change?! If you are a lover of PSLs, crisp temperatures, and all things fall (like myself), get ready to giggle like a schoolgirl, as this South Dakota autumn should be brighter and more beautiful than ever:
It's been a hot summer here in South Dakota, but with temperatures beginning to gradually decline, the trees are beginning to change to their highly anticipated red, orange, and yellow hues.
Because of our hot and dry summer, fall has yet to really take off, as the leaves on the trees change due to both changes in temperature and amount of sunlight.
(In case you didn't know, once the temperatures and sunlight change, the chlorophyll in the leaves breaks down, making the green disappear!)
As per the Farmers' Almanac, South Dakota's peak fall foliage should occur October 5th through the 21st, so plan your driving route now!
Are you curious as to where we love to watch the changing leaves? Anywhere in the Black Hills, of course!
