The Jaw Dropping South Dakota Hike That’s Perfect For Everyone
There's still plenty of time for some outdoor fun before the snow flies. Here's a hiking trail that's fairly short and easy — with a big payoff.
The Buzzards Roost Trail is located in the Black Hills about six miles from Rapid City. The loop trail is 1.6 miles long, but it's part of a larger trail system that includes nine miles of trails, so you can add on some extra spurs if you'd like.
While you will experience a few steep sections, the total elevation gain of this trail is just 374 feet.
A few portions of the trail are rather rocky. A walking stick or trekking poles might be helpful for some.
At the top, you'll quickly see that your effort was worth it. Look at this view!
You can see for miles and miles.
Bring your pup along for the hike. Just make sure to clean up after him so that everyone can experience the beauty of this trail.
