The Gorgeous 1.1-Mile Hike In South Carolina’s Sumter National Forest That Will Lead You Past A Waterfall And Stream

You can actually find yourself standing in a stunning spot in South Carolina where nature etches the number 'six' on the broad side of a rock cliff in the form of a 30-foot-tall waterfall. In the heart of the Sumter National Forest stands Reedy Branch Falls, a living work of art that drops massive amounts of water over a rock ledge painting the number 'six' in water as Reedy Branch makes it way to converge with the Chattooga River near Long Creek, South Carolina.

It's quite a find and a majestic sight that will leave an indelible impression for some time. Without a doubt, this waterfall has the 'feel good' factor, through and through.

The best part of this hike (other than the waterfall) is that it's on relatively flat ground, although Long Creek is considered the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

The entire trail is 1.2 miles long and leads ultimately to a turn-around point at the 0.6-mile mark. It has a total elevation gain of just 121 feet on the out-and-back journey.

You'll follow Reedy Branch for part of the way, enjoying a picturesque view of the water.

But the falls are found at only two-tenths of a mile into the trail.
